Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am six weeks pregnant, and I am using 20 units of Corparin injection daily. On the first day, I was given 20 units, and on the next day, I was given 40 units. Will it cause any harm to my pregnancy?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Corparin (Enoxaparin) has low molecular weight. It blocks the formation of blood coagulation proteins, and it prevents the formation of blood clots. So the blood flow to the baby will be good. There will not be any rejection of the baby tissue by your body. Thus it reduces the chances of abortion. It is especially useful if you have SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus) or APLA syndrome (antiphospholipid antibody syndrome) or history of having repeated abortion or history of having an abortion after seeing the baby's heartbeat in a previous pregnancy.
The effective dose of the drug is 1 mg by kilogram body weight, once a day. It is given subcutaneously. Usually, we can take 40 mg per day. Duration of action of this medicine is 24 hours if it is a prophylactic dose. If it is a therapeutic dose, it is given twice a day (if you had a history of thromboembolism or pulmonary embolism or deep vein thrombosis).
A single change of dosage will not make any significant difference. Try to have a right dose of 40 mg per day from the next dose. Do not worry about the previous dose as you cannot change it. Just do everything right from the next dose. You and your baby will be fine.
