Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had sex two months ago and took a tablet of oral contraceptive pills on the same day. My last period date was even a month before that, that is three months ago now and I had bleeding after five days of taking the oral contraceptive pill. Is it withdrawal bleeding or a normal period itself? I have also done a home pregnancy test after three weeks which showed negative. But these days I have back pain and a lot of gastric problems. I researched on the internet and found the symptoms of pregnancy. Now I think a lot so I feel those symptoms are happening to me. What should I do? Am I pregnant?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

I feel you are overstressing yourself too much. If you had a negative pregnancy test after, then how can you be pregnant? The contraceptive pill you took has a high amount of progesterone levels. The hormone progesterone increases the thickness of the inner wall of the uterus and then the bleeding is initiated making the possible implantation a failure. Your next cycle will be around in 28 days. The problem with internet knowledge is that they give extreme diagnoses about a situation. I advise you to read about the hormone progesterone and you will understand your symptoms. Now as anxiety is added to the symptoms, everything will feel like pregnancy. Usually, contraceptive pills slightly alter your hormonal balance and your periods. So just relax, have some medications for gastritis and medicines for menstrual pain like tablet Meftal-Spas (Mefenamic acid) or tablet Cyclopam plus (Dicyclomine) or Hyocimax plus (Hyoscine butyl bromide + Paracetamol two to four times a day. Consult your physician before taking any medications. Your next cycle may be early or late, may have thick blood with clots or fleshy masses. You will do fine, just relax.

Hope I have clarified your query, do write back if you have any more queries.

All the best.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
