Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 24-year-old woman facing an unwanted pregnancy, and I do not wish to continue with it. My last menstrual cycle began on the 27th of the previous month. I engaged in sexual activity on the 12th and 13th of this month. Today, I received a beta HCG blood report indicating a positive pregnancy result. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. You have the option to terminate the pregnancy at home using medication. However, it is currently too early to consider termination, as there is a risk of incomplete abortion at this stage. Additionally, the low HCG value makes the results less reliable. I suggest you wait for about three weeks. If you do not experience your period during this time, consider getting another blood HCG test to ensure accurate results. I also suggest you undergo an ultrasound (USG) scan to rule out the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy before proceeding with termination. However, at this early stage, a USG scan might not provide conclusive information. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
