Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had stage III prostate cancer fifteen years back. My doctor wanted to stop the tablet Leuprolide and see what happens and then have a PET scan. My PSA increased to 1.3 quickly after stopping Leuprolide. I have attached the PET scan report. Kindly review and revert.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. Post-surgery radiotherapy was given, and Leuprolide was started. This suggests either lymph nodes or margins were positive, and there may have been a prior rise in PSA (prostate-specific antigen). So I suggest continuing Leuprolide. The fact that your PSA was under control for so long and has increased after stopping Leuprolide means the tumor is still hormone-sensitive. So Leuprolide should be continued. Since the tumor grows slowly, you can wait 10 to 15 days until you see your doctor.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. You have done very well so far. Restarting your Leuoprolide and stopping Casodex can again bring the PSA down and control the PET active areas.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
