Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had been taking the anti-rabies vaccine and rabies immunoglobulin since one month. I took the injections three times, two days after the other and the last dose recently. After about 40 minutes of the vaccine, I sanitized my hands with hand sanitizer in home and touched the vaccine site. Will it hamper the efficacy of the vaccine? Because I read in a guideline that the site should not be sterilized with disinfectants.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern, and no need to worry about this. You need not worry about vaccine efficacy, and it will be effective.
I hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. I wish you good health. Thanks.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
If I get any exposure in the future, should I take only two doses, or should I repeat the whole schedule?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
This depends on the severity of exposure and duration since the last dose. If it is mild exposure within one year, no dose is required. But if the bite is severe within one year, the whole schedule should be followed.
I hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. I wish you good health. Thanks.

Hello doctor,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
In my first three doses, I observed a little reddish bleb of about 5 mm on the injection site. But I could not see it after my last dose. Will the last dose still be effective if it is not given in the intradermal region by the nurse?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Yes, it will still be effective. Do not worry. You need not fear this.
I hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. I wish you good health. Thanks.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Finally, despite the above facts (touching the injection site with hand sanitizer on my hand, last dose, and no visible bleb), can I still consider myself safe from rabies? And in future exposure (if any), do I require the doses as a previously immunized person?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Yes, you are safe from rabies. Therefore, you need not worry about this and can consider yourself a fully immunized person.
