This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello Doctor,

I am a 40 years old female and experiencing skin problems for the first time. I am having strange red streaks and rashes on my legs for one week.

I have two types of rashes on my thighs and calf portion of the leg.

  1. Rash on my thighs: Two red-brown streaks, without pain or hot feeling, or any itching. When I push them the streaks remain red-brown colored.
  2. Rash on my calf: It is dark red, almost lilac, It is hot and a little painful but not itchy upon touching. It started showing on my leg as a red rash for three days and became bigger, darker, and hotter. The smaller streaks are becoming bigger and wider.

As of now, I am taking vitamins and echinacea for immune support. I am very concerned and scared about my skin issue. Kindly help me know about the rashes and the treatment for the same.

Thank you so much.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern and will help you with your query.

The skin lesions over the thigh may be stretch marks and erythema nodosum or folliculitis on the calf. Confirmation of the diagnosis can be done after reviewing the photograph of your thigh lesions.

I suggest you use the following medications.

  1. Tablet Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid) 625 mg thrice daily for three days.
  2. Gel Opexa (Dimethicone and Ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate). Apply to the stretch marks twice daily.

Use the medication after consulting your general physician or a nearby dermatologist.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
