Are itchy red spots on the legs caused by eczema?

Hello doctor,

There is a rash that is quite red and itchy on both lower legs. I also have many large red, itchy spots. Uncertain on what to do.

Avoid friction or irritation or irritants.
Wear loose cotton wears.
Check if dry weather or conditions is exacerbating it.
Use a cleanser or moisturizing soap to clean the area.
You can take antihistamines like Cetirizine to reduce itching.
If your skin is dry, you can liberally apply topical moisturizing creams two to three times a day.
Topical Hydrocortisone cream twice daily application may be required.

Calamine lotion with moisturizing cream can be tried initially. Antihistamines like Cetirizine reduce itching. Later topical steroids can be tried as suggested. If it does not subside consult your dermatologist for further examination and management.
