Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My right side eye has become red in the last two days. What could be the reason? Please help me with this.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern. From the photo you shared, it does not look like an emergency (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). So, I will brief you on the common conditions that cause this. If you have a watery eye and if your eyelids get stuck together (or sticky) on waking up, it indicates acute viral conjunctivitis . If you have itching and a sensation of the presence of a foreign body, it can be allergic conjunctivitis. If you have a burning sensation and watery eyes, especially if you use computers and mobile phones for a longer time then ut is indicative of dry eyes. So the treatment depends on these symptoms. Infection needs to be treated with antibiotics. So I suggest you to use antibiotics like Moxifloxacin 0.5 % or Tobramycin 0.3 % eyedrops six times a day. Allergies need immune suppressants for a cure. So I suggest you to use Olopatadine (mast cell stabilizers) 0.1 or 0.2 % or Cromolyn Sodium (mast cell stabilizers) eyedrops twice a day. Dry eyes need artificial tears for treatment. So I suggest you to use Carboxymethyl Cellulose Acetate (ophthalmic lubricant ) 0.5 or 1 % four times a day. Also, I suggest you to visit the doctor in case you start developing pain, or if the redness increases or your vision drops. I hope this helps. Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
