Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My baby is two months old, and he has been vomiting during feeding time. Occasionally, the milk even comes out of his nose at the time of feeding or just after it.
Please tell me what to do about it.
Thank you very much.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I appreciate your concern.
It is possible that your child is having milk come out of her nose because the connection between the nose and throat in children is very close, and reflux is very common at such a young age.
If your baby is feeding properly, gaining weight appropriately, and is otherwise active, you do not need to worry about it. Feed smaller amounts more often, burp your baby after and between feeding, and keep your baby in an upright position for 20 to 30 minutes after every feed. Do not overfeed and do not lay your baby down right after feeding.
However, if the baby vomits frequently, the vomiting is strong (projectile), green or bloody, or is accompanied by choking, insufficient weight gain, fever, or breathing difficulties, you should see a doctor immediately.
If milk keeps coming from the nose during the majority of feeding, you should take your baby to a pediatrician to investigate possible problems with reflux.
I hope you find this information useful.
