Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My daughter is 5-year-old and complaining of ringing in ears, pain, and itching. She had a slight cough and cold for a week, and the cough subsided. But the cold is still there, and I started antibiotics yesterday. Please help.
Thanks.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
You mentioned she had a cough and cold for one week, which is now decreasing. At present, she is having mild ear ache and ringing sensation. It is due to the upper respiratory tract infection. Our middle ear connects with the pharyngeal region. This upper pharynx gets irritated due to swelling of the throat area that is a posterior pharyngeal wall. Give her syrup Paracetamol along with antibiotics which you have already started. She should do a lukewarm water gargle with a pinch of salt in it to soothe the upper pharynx. Once the cold starts to subside, the ear ache will become normal. I suggest you consult a specialist, talk with them, and take the medications with their consent.
I hope this information will help you.
Thanks.
