Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My daughter has recently undergone nine root canal procedures and now has all-metal teeth. She has already been under anesthesia for at least 15 hours of her life, and she is only 12 years old. She needs another procedure next week. It makes me feel nauseous to see her metal smile. I need your help because I do not believe it is healthy for someone, especially a child, to be under general anesthesia for such a prolonged duration.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. The use of general anesthesia for children may be a requirement in your country or state, and unfortunately, it is not something you can change. Rest assured that this rule is in place for the well-being of your daughter, so try to find some comfort in that. Regarding the metal crowns, they are typically attached to milk teeth or temporary teeth, which will naturally fall out within a year or two. While the procedures may be challenging to handle, it is important to have patience and trust that these treatments are being done for a good reason. With time, things will likely improve. I hope my response has been helpful to you.

Thank you.
