Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have noticed that whenever I get out of the shower I have these small red bumps on my cheek bones and around my eyes and eyebrows. They usually take hours or the entire day to go away. Also, recently my skin has been very rough and makes makeup application very difficult. I am assuming it is just from the cold and dry weather, but I have been using the same face wash and moisturizer for years now and have never encountered these issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am on birth control and Spironolactone.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I appreciate you asking about your concern. You have very good skin in terms of tone and quality for your age. I would like to draw your attention to a few things though. Well, as you mentioned the hormonal pills can make your skin behave funny. It pops open the pores and makes your oil glands work overtime. Also, the hot shower makes your oil glands secrete more oil. Use only luke warm to cool water for the face. Hence you lose all oil stored in the skin when you shower. Thereby rendering your skin dry throughout the day.
Apply a good oil control moisturizer like the Avene cleanance moisturuzer right after the shower. Never rub your face during a facewash. Wash it off immediately. I feel when you correct these practices and stop the medicines your skin will return to normal. Always use a non-alcoholic make-up remover and just apply organic make up very light if you have to.
I hope this helps.
