Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a lot of back pain in the morning. My CT scan shows my sacroiliac joint is fused, and my spine and other joints are also fused. There is also fusion between my ribs and spine. Could this be due to ankylosing spondylitis? I have had the pain for over 15 years now.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
The attached reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) show some fusion between the spine and the sacroiliac joints. This could also be degeneration. I suggest a serum marker correlating with HLA (Human leukocyte antigen) B27 levels. If that is high, a rheumatologist's opinion can be taken.
Hope this helps.
Patient's Query
Hi,
Thank you doctor for the reply,
What is the probability of ankylosing spondylitis? As my doctors would not look at the CT scan, I need something in writing to show them to change their minds.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I am sorry I cannot give you a probability just on the images provided (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). As I said before, it needs to be correlated holistically with serum markers and clinical examination.
