Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have an issue concerning scabies. My teenage son's girlfriend's sister had scabies so her family and my son got a treatment a few weeks ago. Their doctor could not confirm everyone does not have it anymore so they start treatment again a few days ago.

My son left for aholiday two days ago, and as I was not aware of the situation, I slept in his bed last night using my own pillow and blanket, but not the sheet covering the mattress. Is it possible I can get scabies from that?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. Yes, you may get infected because of sharing the same bedsheet.

Please let me know the exact date of starting scabies treatment? Any symptoms, of skin lesions in your son? Please reply to me with answers of above asked questions so that I can guide you better.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Unfortunately, I do not have the exact dates, but the first treatment was at the end of May and the second treatment started this week on Tuesday. My son and his partner had no symptoms, this was preventive because his girlfriend was in the same house as her sister (who had contracted scabies). Both times they had no symptoms.

I just want to know if it is possible in these circumstances that I could get this. I would think the chances are very low, almost impossible for me to get scabies?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com

Since they both are asymptomatic, possibility of spread of infection is very less. But better to take precautions like washing all bedsheets, pillow covers, clothes in Permethrin solution. Use a new bedsheet and pillow cover. Watch for skin lesions in you.

I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
