Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am suffering from scalp psoriasis from more than five years. Initially I have tried allopathy treatment then it got cured temporarily till the time I used those medicines and later on I have reached homeopathy treatment for two years but it was of no use. Can you kindly suggest a better treatment and permanent solution? I need a correct medicine and now it has started reaching my ears.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disorder, which means your body’s immune cells are attacking the skin. There is no as such permanent solution, but the treatment is given to minimize the symptoms to a point that you do not get any lesions or itching and it is maintained at this by some preventative measures. What you can do to avoid flares, here are some tips. Do not stop treatment in between, listen to your doctors and follow the treatment course. Moisture your skin daily with moisturiser or coconut oil. Do not take any kind of stress. Do not drink alcohol or smoke, it will aggravate the lesions. Its a long term problem, so have to be patient with your disease. There are some medicated shampoos containing Coal tar, Salicylic acid that can be applied to get rid of scales. Other treatment options are Steroid containing lotion, oral medication. For this you have to your blood test done before starting the treatment. Psoriasis can be quite distressing condition, meditation and yoga can also help a lot apart from using medicines. Once you have adjusted to non stressful lifestyle you will feel your disease is getting better. I hope you find my answer helpful, and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
