Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

During months when the seasons change, such as autumn and spring, my wife suffers from a cough and cold. After vigorous times, fresh blood arises with a cough. She also takes cough syrup, Tranexa 500 (Tranexamic acid), and antibiotics. It is cured but resurfaced again with the weather change. Does this disease have a permanent treatment? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I read your query and can understand your concern. It sounds like she may be experiencing respiratory issues that are exacerbated during seasonal changes. The coughing with fresh blood is concerning and she should seek immediate medical attention if this occurs again. It is important to note that antibiotics are only effective against bacterial infections, and may not be helpful in treating a cough caused by a viral infection or allergies. There are some things your wife can do to manage her symptoms and potentially reduce the frequency of coughing fits. These include staying hydrated, avoiding triggers such as smoke or pollution, using a humidifier, and taking over-the-counter cough and cold medication as recommended by a doctor. It is also worth noting that seasonal allergies can sometimes mimic the symptoms of a cold or flu, and may require different treatment options such as antihistamines or allergy shots. There may not be a permanent cure for your wife's condition, but there are ways to manage her symptoms and potentially reduce the frequency and severity of her coughing fits. I hope this helps. Thank you and take care.
