Patient's Query
Hello,
My wife has had this red patch on the back of her head for about ten months. I consulted a dermatologist, and he said it was folliculitis. Currently, she is using Fucidin cream twice daily. She also takes Statin medicine. Please advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern. It is seborrheic capitis with a secondary bacterial infection. I have the following suggestions for you. You must wash your scalp with Ketoscalp shampoo (Ketoconazole and Zinc Pyrithione) alternate day for two weeks. You can apply Nadibact cream (Nadifloxacin) or Mupirocin ointment in the daytime for ten days. You must avoid scratching and rubbing the lesions. Take Tablet Teczine-M (Levocetirizine and Montelukast) once at night after food for seven days. You must avoid oil application as it acts as food for dandruff. You can use Scalpe shampoo (Climbazole, Piroctone Olamine, Zinc Pyrithione, Coco Amide Propyl Betaine, Propylene Glycol, Disodium Cocoyl Glutamate, Amodimethicone) twice weekly for six weeks (after two weeks). Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi,
Thank you, doctor. We will follow what you suggested. I hope this is not some form of skin cancer?
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. It is seborrheic capitis only. It is not a very severe condition, and it is not a skin cancer for sure. Do not worry and stay relaxed. Along with all the above-mentioned treatments and precautions, you can also apply Ketoconazole cream or lotion at night for two weeks. You may follow up after two weeks. Thank you.
