Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have white patches in both the cheeks. It appears like a dandruff and the dead skin peels off.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From the images attached (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), your condition is suggestive of seborrheic dermatitis. Follow the below instructions. Apply Ketoconazole 1 % lotion 20 minutes before bath for 20 days. Use Ketoconazole soap for bath for 30 days. I suggest tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg at night for ten days. Maintain a proper beard hygiene. Avoid scratching and rubbing of lesions. Keep the area clean and dry. Avoid using moisturizer on the beard area because humidity causes fungal growth. Avoid sharing of razors. Are you a diabetic patient? Do you have an itchy beard?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

Yes, it causes itching if I touch. My blood sugar level is 160 mg/dL without medications.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Do greasy yellow flakes appear along the hair line, eye brows, alar portion of the nose, nasolabial folds, retroauricular area, chest or beard? Do you apply excess oil?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

I have flakes in the head, outer layer of ears, beard, and moustache.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Your condition is suggestive of xeroderma of skin due to environmental conditions. Apply Salisia KT (Ketoconazole and Salicylic acid) shampoo for 10 minutes and then wash it. Use it for ten days. Apply liquid Paraffin on the ears twice daily for ten days. Wash your face with Ketoconazole soap for a month. Avoid excess scratching and be gentle in the face area. Are your nails or muscles involved? Do you have fissures, erosions, redness, inflammation, or burning sensation? Do you have a history of atopy or taking ayurvedic, herbal medications, steroids, or retenoids? Do you have a drug allergy, difficulty in breathing? Follow up after ten days.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor for the reply,

I prick the flakes with nails. I do not have allergies and breathing issues for the past 2 years. I use Propysalic NF ointment for chest wounds. It recurs if I stop using the oinment.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Use olive oil for dry skin. Apply Vaseline twice daily for a month. Avoid hot water and use cold or lukewarm water for shower. Pat gently with soft towel after cleansing the affected areas. Avoid rubbing and scratching it vigorously. Avoid using OTC (over-the-counter) drugs and steroids. Use Ketoconazole lotion. Do you have an inflammation or burning sensation?

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
