Can non-penetrative sex during my period cause pregnancy?

Hi doctor,

My boyfriend fingered and put his penis around in my vagina but there was no sex. I am not sure if semen is there or not and I was in the midst of my fifth day of menstruation. My menstruation only lasts two days, and there was no bleeding on the fifth day. Can I still get pregnant?

I have a regular period cycle date starts from august last week and ends in the first week of september. Please help.

If you have regular cycles and no proper penetrative sex history on day five, then your chances of getting pregnant are lower, although only one normal sperm is sufficient but it need proper timing, normal hormonal support from reproductive system, and proper pathways that support ovulation and fertilization. If you have regular cycles, then their is fertile period of few days in which most likely chances of having conception. However, there is a lower chance of conception outside of the fertile period, in non-penetrative sex, and in regular cycles, even without hormonal imbalance, but sometimes stress, anxiety and abnormal hormones can lead to pregnancy in confirmed penetrative sex.

As per your description, you have less chances of conception. In case of any symptoms you can have, I suggest you to get serum beta human chorionic gonadotropin blood pregnancy test to be on safe side. In case of lower abdominal pain and bleeding and dizziness, better to report tertiary care hospital.
