I feel hurt and anxious while trying to have sex. Kindly help.

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am married for almost a year, but we are not able to have sex. It hurts a lot when we try to have sex. I tried lubricants too still it is not of any help. I can insert one finger, but while trying to have sex, I think I become conscious, and that is why it hurts, so we cannot continue. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I do understand the kind of distress you are going through currently. It must be really difficult for you. I appreciate the fact that you have elaborated on your problems in detail. There are a lot of individuals who have such problems/concerns. However, if those concerns are addressed at the appropriate time, it would get better in due course of time. I need certain clarifications for a better understanding of your case for proper diagnosis and better management as well.

You are married for how long? How is your relationship otherwise? Did you consult any gynecologist? How is your mood otherwise? Any per vaginal examination was done previously?

The Probable causes

Obstructive (improper rupture of the hymen).

Investigations to be done

If any kindly upload.

Treatment plan

After diagnostic clarification.

Preventive measures

After diagnostic clarification.

Regarding follow up

As early as possible.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am married for 10 months. My relationship is very good, and I am very happy. My only concern is what I described. I consulted online, and she prescribed a lubricant, but that does not help. My mood is good, but I do not know I get anxious at that time. No, I have not done any vaginal examination.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I would suggest that it is better to get the physical examination done by the gynecologist first because it is always better to rule out the physical causes first. If any, then we can look for other reasons. Since your marital relationship also seems to be good.
