Patient's Query

Hi! I’m a 24 year old female who recently had a BMP drawn and my GFR is 81 creatinine 0.86. The only medication I take is LoEstrin Fe OCP. The 12 hours before the lab test I had limited water intake and didn’t know if this would effect the results at all. I am stressing myself out knowing this value represents CKD stage 2 and I’m 24 years old. I knew a rare side effect of Lo LoEstrin Fe is decreased kidney function so was unsure if that could be the culprit. Thanks for any help

Hello the way in the creatinine clearance is calculated is by collecting 24 hour urine and then examining it for both proteins and creatinine. when 24 hour urine is collected it will give us a clear Idea as to what is happening in the body. measurements made from spot samples or not very accurate and are done to reduce the patients efforts to collect 24 hour urine. when spot samples are collected the albumin and creatinine in it are calculated. So I would suggest you that if you want a proper value of your creatinine clearance then you collect 24 hours urine and get it analysed. I would suggest you to not worry before getting the test done. let me know if I can help you out in any other way
