Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for the reply

I am 30 years old, and the irritation began yesterday. I had recently shaved my pubic hair with a trimmer, and I also shaved my inner thighs slightly. I noticed cuts shortly after shaving, and the irritation started within an hour. There are no other visible lesions. About two months ago, I experienced mild itching in the vaginal area, and I was provided with suppositories, which resolved the issue. I do not have diabetes or any other underlying medical conditions.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The lesions in the attached photos (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity) could be attributed to folliculitis (a common skin condition characterized by the inflammation and infection of hair follicles), possibly resulting from trimming the hair too short. To address this, I suggest the following:

  1. Avoid trimming the hair excessively short.

  2. Minimize friction and irritation.

  3. Choose loose cotton innerwear to promote ventilation.

  4. Clean the affected area with warm water twice daily.

  5. I suggest you apply a topical antibiotic cream like Fucidin (Fusidic acid 20 mg) or Mupirocin twice daily.

  6. If you experience pain, I suggest taking an anti-inflammatory analgesic like Ibuprofen after eating.

  7. For itching, antihistamines like Cetirizine 10 mg may provide relief.

  8. Keep an eye out for any recurrence of white discharge, as it could indicate a fungal infection that requires appropriate treatment.

I hope this helps.

Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
