Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a problem with social anxiety disorder. I used tablet Escitalopram for the last two months, but it did not work, and my problem continues. When many students ask me about something then, my face starts boiling and becomes red, and my ears also turn red. It is the same as when a teacher talks to me, such as a female teacher. Will my problem resolve After some days, I will give a presentation in class. I cannot talk to even a student or a teacher then how I will give a presentation in a class of 40 students. My problem gets worst. Every day I talk to myself about what I will do. People will laugh at me. Even sometimes, I cannot study due to this problem. There is also shaking in my mouth sometimes during the situation.

Kindly advice.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

If your anxiety is more like stage fright, such as speaking in public or on stage, I would advise a different medication instead of tablet Escitalopram. Take tablet Inderal 10 mg, two tablets before starting a speech. This medication helps you with shaking and palpitations, but I am sure you need more help than that; kindly see a good psychiatrist for more behavioral exercises and situational desensitization techniques.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
