Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My boy is turning four; he has a sore throat. He has a terrible cough; it sounds sore. He does not eat or drink well. The fever is not too hot, but he can feel it is not normal.
He has a runny nose. What can it be?
His throat is a little bit swollen; my tonsils are, and he is sometimes very sleepy and tired.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I understand your concern and will definitely help you with it.
Considering the continuing abnormal temperature and the worsening of the symptoms, I would suggest getting the child evaluated physically by a pediatrician with blood investigations like CBC (complete blood count) and CRP (C-reactive protein), to be decided as per examination.
The benefits of examination in physical health far outweigh the risks involved in the current scenario. Hence, it is advisable to get the child evaluated physically.
Till then, you can start the child on
Syrup Augmentin (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid) DDS (dose as per weight of the child) twice a day for five days.
Syrup nutrition (multivitamin and multimineral syrup) (five ml) once a day for five days.
Levolin (Levalbuterol) (dose as per the weight of the child) twice a day for five to seven days for the coughing.
Take Cetzine (antihistamine) five ml once a day for three days for the cold.
You can check the temperature with a thermometer and treat it with
Syrup Crocin DS (Paracetamol) (dose as per the weight of the child) if the temperature is 100 degrees Fahrenheit or more.
Syrup Ibugesic Plus (Ibuprofen and Paracetamol) (dose as per the weight of the child) if the temperature is 102 degrees Fahrenheit or more.
Hope this helps; feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns.
Do follow up whenever needed.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
