Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 19-year-old male. A few days back, my lips got creviced and I had a little bleeding in the morning. When I waked up, my lips were swollen and I had some small boils present in and around my lips. It remained painful and annoying. I used vaseline, petroleum jelly, and honey. But it did not help me. I had a fever before two weeks and I had high blood pressure for few days. Before few months, it happened like this and it was minor. My lips got swelled many times in the past for a few hours after waking up.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
First of all, it is a good sign that this is not happening for the first time. This is not something new and acute to you. I have gone through the image (attachment removed to protect patient identity). You can have this issue due to many reasons. It does not look like a dermatologic condition but it is a possible sign of some other issue. Therefore, you need to consult a general physician. Have a general examination and comprehensive blood tests have to be done. For treating your lips, you should not use vaseline or any other petroleum gels. You can use a simple moisturizing cream and if it hurts, a Lidocaine gel or cream can be used in or near the mouth.
