Hi doctor,

Since last year, I have been struggling with stress, anxiety, and depression. I am struggling with symptoms similar to that of OCD.

I understand your concern.

I need some detail about your OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) symptoms and the duration of your illness. Have you taken treatment or medication in the past? I can suggest some non-pharmacological guidelines to deal with your problem, but they will work as supportive treatment.

  1. It would help if you exercised 30 to 45 minutes daily, like at least going for a walk.
  2. You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily. Sit at one place in a comfortable position, and try to concentrate on your normal breathing, do not stop or force yourself to control your thoughts. It will help you to calm down.
  3. You should eat healthy home-cooked food, and avoid junk food.
  4. You must drink enough water.
  5. It would help if you spent quality time with friends and family daily.
  6. It would help if you spent time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.
  7. You should take enough seven to eight hours of sleep daily.
  8. It will help if you avoid tobacco or alcohol, or any substance abuse.
  9. Be bold and confident.

Do follow-up with blood reports such as complete blood count, thyroid profile, and vitamin B12, and follow up within two weeks.
