Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I noticed a swelling in the lower right eyelid for four weeks that shortly started to subside. I stopped using contact lenses since the swelling appeared. At present, it has become hard and painful. It has even stopped to subside. Kindly suggest the needed treatment.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Depending on the symptoms listed, you could be suffering from a condition called stye.

Stye is an inflamed oil gland on the edge of your eyelid. It appears as a red, swollen bump that looks like a pimple and is often tender.

I advise you to take the following medication.

  1. Take the tablet Serratiopeptidase (Serrapeptase) twice daily for seven days.

  2. Eye ointment Tobramycin (Tobramycin) can be applied over the pimple thrice daily for seven days.

  3. Take a tablet of Cephalexin Monohydrate 500 mg (Cephalexin) twice daily for seven days.

  4. Take a capsule of Omeprazole 40 mg (Omeprazole magnesium) once in the morning before breakfast for eight days.

  5. Warm compresses can be applied over the pimple.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Treatment plan

● Tab. Serratiopeptidase (one tablet in morning and night) for 7 days ● Tobramycin eye onintment (apply over the pimple in morning afternoon and night) for 7 days ● Tab. Cephalexin 500mg (one tablet in morning and night) for 7 days ● Cap. Omeprazole 40mg (once in morning before breakfast) for 8 days ● Warm compressions over the pimple

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

The swelling was tender at first, but it has not been tender for three weeks. I have also started noticing that the swelling is turning red on the outside, and want to know the reason. Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

A stye usually presents with a reddish swelling, and if it does not start to improve within three to five days of starting the treatment, I suggest you visit an ophthalmologist.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
