Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am currently dealing with a sun-induced darkening on my face and neck that does not match my natural skin tone. I am determined to return my skin to its original, lighter complexion that I had before my sun exposure. What should be my next course of action? Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

I suggest the following:

  1. Minimize direct sunlight exposure by wearing sunglasses, caps, and covering exposed skin.

  2. Apply sunscreen three times a day, at around 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 3 p.m., covering your entire face.

  3. Ensure your sunscreen has an SPF (sun protection factor) of around 50.

  4. Utilize an anti-pigmentation cream on affected areas, such as Kojic acid, Hydroquinone, or Depiwhite cream (Hydroquinone, Kojic acid, Ascorbyl methylsilanol pectinate, Aluminium silicate, Lactic acid, Tocopherol and Sodium acrylate).

  5. For deep or severe tanning, consider glycolic acid peels. You may need six to eight peel sessions.

  6. Even after tanning has reduced, continue using sunscreen consistently.

I hope this helps. Consult your doctor and take the medicines.

Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
