Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had this swollen lymph node behind my ear for about three months now. What could the reason be? There is no pain. I can move it. I do not have any other symptoms, such as fever, weight loss, or fatigue. I have been coughing up mucus for a few years now. Could this be the reason, and is there any infection suspected? About two weeks ago, I noticed a smaller lymph node appear right under my ear lobe (the top of my neck). What could be the reason for this? I also realized the skin where my lymph node is red and warm. Is it cancer? Please help. I have pictures attached with the lymph node behind my ear.

Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

It looks like you have a small benign lymph node. Lymph nodes do not harm, and everyone has lots of them in their bodies. These flare up only when there is a minor infection to fight in your surroundings. So there is not much to worry about, especially not cancer. Based on the photos and information you provided (attachment removed to protect patient identity), it may also be a benign lipoma, a lump of fat slightly thicker, and does not need anything to be done. Just leave it in place, and it will go away. Do not massage it. See a doctor if you experience pain or if it increases in size significantly.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
