Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a female and have symptoms of UTI, including a burning sensation while passing urine, frequent urination, and cloudy urine. I am not taking medications and have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I am sure that this is UTI because I first noticed it when I had sex and did not urinate right after it. I noticed it about two hours later when I finally urinated, and there was a light tingling sensation. I am worried that it may be an STD or something else because I underwent a test that is positive for leukocytes but negative for nitrites. Please tell me if I have UTI or something else.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your symptoms are suggestive of UTI (urinary tract infection). You had a predisposing factor, after which your symptoms started. Also, the urine dipstick test (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) for leukocytes is positive. I would suggest you drink plenty of water and take a course of antibiotics for seven days. I suggest you take the tablet Nitrofurantoin 100 mg twice a day. Consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent. Also, try to take proper precautions to prevent UTIs.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
