Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a college student, and I have a problem with my skin color, as it is becoming more tanned day by day. Is there any medication or treatment, such as drips, that can help me become fairer?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you so much for sharing your concern with me.
Many young women notice increasing tanning, especially in sunny places, and it can feel frustrating. However, it is important to clarify something medically: tanning is your skin’s natural protective response to UV (ultraviolet) exposure. It is not a disease, and there is no safe medication that can permanently lighten your natural skin tone.
Regarding whitening drips, many clinics promote IV (intravenous) Glutathione drips for fairness. These are not approved for skin whitening, are not medically necessary, and can carry risks such as kidney problems, thyroid dysfunction, severe allergic reactions, and unknown long-term effects. I do not recommend skin whitening drips.
If your skin is becoming darker day by day, the most common reason is sun exposure and inadequate sun protection. The correct and safe approach is to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen SPF 50 daily (even indoors if near windows), and reapply every two to three hours when outside. Wear protective clothing, such as a hat, scarf, or use an umbrella when outdoors.
Additionally, use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer suited to your skin type. At bedtime, apply a pea-sized amount of Kojivit Plus (Kojic acid dipalmitate, Arbutin, Glycolic acid, Octinoxate, Vitamin E, Mulberry extract, and Allantoin) cream on your face and hands under the cover of moisturizer.
If there are specific dark patches (melasma or post-inflammatory pigmentation), those can be treated individually, but treatment is targeted, not whole-body whitening.
Also, please remember: fair skin does not equal beautiful skin. Healthy, even-toned skin is the goal, not changing your natural color. Social pressure about fairness can be strong, but medically, your natural complexion is normal and healthy.
I hope this helps with your query. Please feel free to share your valuable feedback to help improve patient care.
Thank you.
