Patient's Query

Hello doctor.

I am 18 years old. I just relocated to a new city, and there have been several changes since then. I have always had oily hair and dandruff, but not to this extent. Since moving, I have experienced hair loss, as well as drier hair and increased dandruff. I have also discovered that my shower water in the new city contains some strange black material. Could you please explain to me why my hair is suddenly falling out, especially at such a young age, and how I can stop it?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

It looks to be telogen effluvium (the resting phase of the hair cycle characterized by sudden hair loss). There is no reason to be concerned as it is self-limiting.

  1. Avoid stress, be relaxed, and make yourself stress-free because stress is a major contributor.

  2. Increase your protein consumption.

  3. Consume healthy and nutritious foods.

  4. Avoid smoking since it reduces blood circulation to the hair follicles.

  5. Avoid hairstyles, treatments, or coloring that might harm the texture of your hair.

I hope this helps.
