Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have itching and tenderness in the right breast. I assumed it was hormonal. However, it became very painful throughout the day, and the tissue under the nipple was hard. I have been applying hot compresses and taking the tablet Advil for the pain, which has seemed to help, but the area under the nipple is still abnormal. What should I do?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. Can you send me a detailed history of all your reports and medications? The pain could be due to trauma or internal injury. The pain, itching, and tenderness can cause fever as well. Check for temperature as well. If you have fever, you can have oral antibiotics like the tablet Augmentin 625 mg 8 hourly for five days and tablet Ponstan 500 mg also eight hourly for 2 to 3 days or if the pain persists for more days. You need a breast examination if the above treatment does not help you, as it could be an abscess or mass. Also check for discharge.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
