Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have attached my mother's FNAC of the thyroid. I need your suggestion please. She has severe head and neck pain. Currently, she is taking Thyroxine 100 mcg.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I just read your query about your mother and from what you have attached (attachment removed to protect patient identity), it appears that your mother has a benign enlargement of the thyroid gland. There is nothing to worry about. The treatment is Thyroxine which she is already taking and regular monitoring of her thyroid function tests. Also, better to do a radioiodine isotope uptake scan of the thyroid gland. The prognosis is good with treatment. However, if the thyroid gland is enlarged too much and is causing compression symptoms, then it needs to be surgically removed.
Thank you.
