Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I did a high tibial osteotomy two months ago and it has been 71 days but I am feeling some pain at the site where they have implanted the metal plate and screws. Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and am sorry to hear about the discomfort you are facing, I can offer some general suggestions. Pain after a high tibial osteotomy is not uncommon. Here are a few suggestions to consider:
1. Rest and elevate the leg: Make sure to give your leg proper rest and elevate it when possible to help reduce swelling and relieve some of the pain
2. Apply ice: Applying ice to the affected area for 15 to 20 minutes at a time, several times a day, can help reduce swelling and alleviate pain.
3. Take pain medication as directed: Over-the-counter pain medications or those prescribed by your doctor can help manage the discomfort. Always follow the recommended dosage and consult your healthcare provider before starting any new medication.
4. Physical therapy: Your doctor may recommend physical therapy to help strengthen the surrounding muscles and improve the range of motion. This can also aid in reducing pain and promoting healing.
5. Do not miss your follow-up with your healthcare provider.
I hope you find this helpful. Thank you.
