Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My left tonsil is enlarged and I have two lumps near my left tonsil. The lumps were grown about 10 years ago and have kind of changed in shape and quality. They are kind of soft and change shape when I touch them. From time to time I feel a moderate pain in my throat and it goes away on its own. I have recently noticed some changes in the shape and texture of the lumps (white vessels on them) and I have started to get worried about cancer. I have had my throat visited by several ENT specialists for the last 10 years. Some of them have recommended tonsillectomy, which I avoided due to my fear of surgery.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can see the white proliferative growths over the left tonsils. They do not look normal. Whereas they may be innocuous we can be absolutely sure only after a pathological microscopic examination. For the same, we must do a biopsy of the lesion. Otherwise, it is advisable to undergo a tonsillectomy operation and send the specimen for histopathological examination. Once we have the results of a microscopic examination we can decide on the future course of action. In lieu of the above, I would like to ask you if you have been having any other symptoms other than just this lesion. Do you have pain or difficulty in swallowing, bleeding, burning sensation, or anything? Do revert back for further support.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
