Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I went to an obstructive gynecologist to see if I had PCOS since my period would skip for one to two months, or I would have it twice a month. I am 19 years old, if my age is relevant, and also a virgin. The doctor suggested that they do a transrectal ultrasound to see if I have PCOS so they could give me the appropriate medicine.

Is there an alternative to transrectal ultrasound?

Would transabdominal ultrasound work?

I fear being touched, and the thought of having something inside to probe around me, even for a few minutes, makes me sick to my stomach.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

A transabdominal scan can be done over the abdomen wall.

Transrectal or Transvaginal ultrasound is not needed. However, to regulate your menstrual cycle:

  1. Do perineal and pelvic exercises regularly.
  2. Do yoga and pranayam regularly.
  3. Take flax seeds regularly.
  4. Take Capsule Evacare (Ashoka tree, Asparagus, Lodh tree, and Malabar nut.) twice a day for three to six months.

These will help you a lot.

Thank you.
