How can I manage diabetes and heal abscess and pimples?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 29-year-old unmarried female. I have a lot of issues because of diabetes. Diabetes was detected four months ago when I underwent underarm surgery for an abscess. It has not recovered yet. Also, I have a lot of pimples on my face and head. I think this is because of the sugar level. The last time my sugar level was 185. Please suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Do you have a family history of diabetes mellitus type 2? My suggestion is for better sugar control and overall health. Start by working on gradual weight loss, aiming to reduce about 2.2 pounds per month. This steady weight loss can significantly help lower your blood sugar levels over time. It’s important not to skip meals, as doing so can lead to sudden sugar drops and overeating later.

Cut down on high-fat and high-calorie foods like red meat, oily or fried items, and processed snacks. Instead, choose healthier options like steamed vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains. Reduce your intake of white rice and try switching to millets, which are more fiber-rich and have a lower glycemic index.

Incorporate regular physical activity into your routine, whether it is walking, jogging, or cycling. Just 30 minutes a day can make a difference. Equally important is keeping a positive mindset. Believe in your ability to take charge of your health. Start with small changes and follow them consistently. With time and effort, you will begin to see meaningful results and feel better overall.

I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

My mom and dad have diabetes. But my mom has recovered from it after bariatric surgery. I have many problems because of this, and I do not want to be like this.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

As I told you, try diet, exercise, and, if needed, bariatric surgery. You will be alright.

I hope this helps.
