This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had two-toned skin for years; my face is darker than my upper arm and neckline. I have already tried a series of peels, but they do not work. What steps should I take to manage this?.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand how distressing it can be to deal with uneven skin tone for years, especially when previous treatments like chemical peels have not given the results you hoped for. I appreciate your patience and persistence in seeking a solution.

Based on your description and the image, a gentle, consistent approach focusing on targeted pigmentation reduction and skin barrier support is ideal.

I would suggest the following measures:

  • Try Kojivit plus cream, applying a pea-sized amount once daily at bedtime under the cover of a moisturizer to avoid excess irritation. This contains a tyrosinase inhibitor along with Glycolic acid that will help in gently removing the tan.

  • It is important to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning to prevent further pigmentation and damage.

  • Continue using your moisturizer to maintain hydration.

  • For additional brightening, you can use Alpha Arbutin serum 2% in the evening, applied to the darker areas.

  • Dot the serum rather than spreading it over the whole face to focus on hyperpigmented zones.

Consistency is key here, and visible improvement usually takes a few weeks to months. Avoid harsh scrubs or frequent chemical peels during this period, as they can worsen pigmentation. With regular use of these measures and strict sun protection, your skin tone can gradually even out.

I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.

Thank you.
