Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 27 year old male. I had unprotected intercourse two weeks back with my girlfriend. From yesterday, my penis shaft hurts, and it looks red too. I have pain while peeing, too. All these symptoms are causing anxiety and fear in me. Do these symptoms indicate any sexually transmitted diseases or HIV? Should I test myself for such disorders? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Please share a picture of the affected area. If there was unprotected sex, one needs to think of sexually transmitted infection. So, I suggest you do the following tests:

1. TPHA (treponema pallidum hemagglutination).

2. HPV DNA PCR test (human papillomavirus with genotyping polymerase chain reaction).

3. HSV (herpes simplex virus) one and two IgG (immunoglobulin G).

4. HSV (herpes simplex virus) one and two IgM (immunoglobulin M), serum.

5. Chlamydia trachomatis IgG.

6. HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) one and two antibodies screening tests.

7. HbsAg (hepatitis B surface antigen).

8. Urine complete.

If you are sure your girlfriend does not have an infection, it can be a simple bacterial infection. I suggest you use ointment T-Bact (Mupirocin) for local application and Doxy (Doxycycline) 100 mg twice a day for five days. If there is itching, you need to think of a fungal infection. Ointment Candid-B (Beclometasone and Clotrimazole) for local application daily for five days and for itching, tablet Cetzine (Cetirizine) once a night. Make sure you wash your genitalia twice a day, morning and night. Use normal water and no cold or hot water. Do not use heavy pH soap. Check for blood sugar.

Hope this addresses your query.

Regards.
