Can I become pregnant from sex 2 months ago at age 35?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Two months ago, my partner and I had sex, where he just inserted his penis into my vagina three to five times for 30 seconds and then removed it, but before inserting, he wiped his penis. Then later in the same month, I had my normal period for five days.

Last month, I had my normal period for four to five days. In between, we did not engage in any kind of sexual intercourse, but this month, my period is delayed by around three days. I am having a pregnancy scare very badly.

Is it possible to get pregnant from sex two months ago?

Please tell me; I cannot test it out.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Based on your description, pregnancy is not possible from that encounter two months ago.

You had sex two months ago, then you had a normal period a few days later (five days) and another normal period about a month later (four to five days).

A true menstrual period means the uterine lining was shed, which rules out an ongoing pregnancy from before that time. Having two normal periods after the encounter makes pregnancy from that event essentially impossible.

Also, the act you described is a very brief insertion, no ejaculation, and a wiped penis before. Even on its own, that carries very low risk, but the periods afterward completely rule it out.

A delay of three days is very common and can happen due to stress and anxiety (especially pregnancy fear), hormonal fluctuations, and changes in routine, sleep, or diet.

At your age, cycles are not always perfectly exact every month.

So the diagnosis here is not pregnancy and most likely a temporary cycle delay due to stress or normal hormonal variation. You do not need to panic. Your period will likely come within a few days.

If your menstrual cycle gets delayed more than about seven to 10 days and you are still worried, a test can reassure you, but medically, based on your history, there is no chance this is from the encounter two months ago.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.
