Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Last night I was with my partner. We had sex without a condom around three times in a row. My partner inserted less than half of his penis just for a five seconds. I am expecting my period in three to four days. Could I be pregnant?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I do not think you have any chance of getting pregnant if you are expecting periods in the next three to four days. For a lady, ovulation occurs at around the twelfth to sixteenth day of her period. The life of an egg is 24 hours, and that of a sperm is 72 hours. So there is no chance for the egg to be available till the end of the period, and the sperm will not survive till the next ovulation. Even the pre-seminal fluid (the clear fluid that comes out of the penis before the semen), is rich in young and active sperms. Even if this comes in contact with the thighs or genitals, it can cause pregnancy, as the sperm can swim up through the vagina, by chemical attraction. But if you had the penis penetration for five seconds, I do not think the fluid would have been secreted. Hence I feel that you will not get pregnant due to this.

I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
