Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 31-year-old male 5 feet 7 inches and 140 lbs. I foolishly had unprotected receptive anal sexual intercourse with another male and I have had a constant bloating, dull pain in my lower left abdomen, left testicle, and prostate area, loss of appetite, constipation with greasy or oily stool sometimes present with yellow fishy smelling mucous type liquid. I have had a general feeling of unwellness and fatigue. No matter how much I sleep I always feel tired. I have tried many different antibiotics like, Ciprofloxacin, Doxycycline, Metronidazole, etc which have helped over the course of treatment, but symptoms return toward the end of the dosages. I have been dealing with this for almost two years now and have seen a handful of doctors. I now have symptoms of brain fog and confusion with headaches and trouble finding words at times, memory loss, etc. In the beginning, I was tested for multiple STDs and had chlamydia which did not show during the next tests following some of the antibiotics but the symptoms have never gone away. I have had blood tests for many things including HIV which was negative. What could this be that would not show up on regular STD tests?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Kindly answer the following questions for me to help you better.

  1. Have you done the syphilis test?

  2. Were you positive for syphilis in any of the earlier tests taken? Have you done any brain imaging tests for the recent onset of neuro symptoms?

  3. You have listed out your past symptoms, but can I know what are your current symptoms?

Kindly attach the detailed medical investigations done so that I can narrow the etiology of the present symptoms.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you for consulting me.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

Syphilis did not show on any previous tests and I am having all the symptoms listed currently. I have not had any brain imaging done, only a CT scan of my lower abdomen which showed signs of mild prostatitis. Levaquin was prescribed but had no effect.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have noted your symptoms. I will correlate your symptoms with the clinical history you have provided here and reply to your query after analyzing them.
