Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

l had sex towards the end of January for three days. And after that, I took a Levonorgestrel tablet in the evening. After that, I had sex again after taking the emergency contraceptive tablet. But I am experiencing symptoms like vomiting, bloated stomach, and stomach pain. I am afraid I may be pregnant. If yes, then how can I prevent this pregnancy? Kindly guide me on how to prevent pregnancy.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You mentioned that you had unprotected sex for three days at the end of January and took an emergency contraceptive pill. After which, you again had unprotected sex. An emergency contraceptive pill has to be taken within 72 hours after having unprotected intercourse.

You cannot be pregnant as you took the emergency contraceptive pill in time. The symptoms of vomiting and bloating may be due to the pill. There is nothing you can do now. You may experience little spotting because of the pill. If in case you are pregnant, there are medications to prevent it, but your gynecologist will give that. Just relax and wait until your next period.

Good luck,

Regards.
