Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have abnormal vaginal bleeding five days after the last period. It is definitely not period blood. Before that, on and off, I had a weird discharge, pink almost but not bloody. No pain symptoms other than a slight sharp pinch in my cervical area. I am taking the tablets Lamictin, Fluanxol, and medical marijuana. What to do?

Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query.

I understand your issue, but it is better to undergo complete investigations regarding symptoms before starting any treatment There could be many reasons, but we must sort them out and take precautions and treatment accordingly.

1. It could be an infection that causes cervicitis and results in bleeding or spotting, so check for any smell or irritation and then have a high vaginal swab to exclude this.

2. It can be due to cervical erosion or cervical pathology that can bleed like this haphazardly, so have a cervical smear test. A local lesion can bleed like a cervical polyp, endometrial polyp, any inflammatory lesion, etc.

So, I suggest you do one transvaginal scan and one patient local hysteroscopic examination to exclude all pathologies like fibroids, any endometrioma, polyp, etc. Do a complete blood count and thyroid function test to exclude medical pathology. Follow strict personal hygiene. Wear soft and comfortable undergarments. Use condoms to avoid sexually transmitted infections. Eat healthy food containing iron, apples, carrots, spinach, etc. For bleeding and pain, I suggest you take a tablet of Ponstan (Mefenamic acid) 500 mg and a tablet of Tranexamic acid (antifibrinolytic agent) 500 mg eight hourly for two to five days as per your need to reduce bleeding. Take a tablet of Doxycycline 100 mg (tetracycline) twice daily and a tablet of Metronidazole 400 mg eight hourly for seven days for suspected infection.

Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent.

Hope this helps you.

Thank you.
