Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am getting a whitish vaginal discharge with whole-body pain. I have three babies. My last pregnancy happened six months back. The baby is no more. After that, I feel weakness and restlessness. Currently, I am taking tablets Metronidazole and PCM.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Thank you for choosing iCliniq for your medical queries.

Metronidazole is a medication that is usually taken for an infection. May I ask when it was started? If it was started less than five days ago, I would advise you to continue it till the course is complete. Your doctor must have prescribed you the number of days. Another medication that has been prescribed is tablet PCM. It is prescribed when there is a fever especially due to any infection. Your symptoms of white discharge also suggest the same. From the above medications, it seems you have had an infection somewhere in the genito-urinary tract (the exact location might be better known through imaging techniques like an ultrasound). This might also be the reason for your loss of pregnancy. Please do not worry as this is very much treatable. Please continue taking the tablet PCM (Paracetamol) 650 mg three times a day, this will take care of your body ache till the infection is removed with the help of Metronidazole. Continue with the tablet Metronidazole as prescribed. Please follow up with your doctor, in case your symptoms persist. You may need some more antibiotics along with Metronidazole to fully fight the infection. This can be assessed in about a week with the help of blood tests like CBC (complete blood count) and also clinically. As for the medications, Metronidazole itself causes some side effects like loss of taste and sometimes very mild body aches. But it is necessary to remove the infection so please do not stop it midway unless your doctor has changed it to some other antibiotic.

Thank you.
