Can the bump near the vulva be a wart?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I recently noticed a bump near my vulva, and I am concerned. It is soft and does not hurt. I thought it was ingrown at first, but it is still there three days later. I am a bit worried it might be a wart. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From the picture you sent (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), it does not look like a wart at all. However, I could not make out the exact location of the lesion. It could be a folliculitis that can occur after shaving if it is near the mons pubis. If it is near the labia, it could be Bartholin's cyst. Both do not require any active treatment if it is not painful and tender.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hi,

Thank you for the reply.

It is located in the fold between my thigh and my groin.

Regards.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It could be a lymph node, then. Lymph nodes can get enlarged after any infection you have had and generally subside by themselves once the infection clears. You need not do anything unless it increases in size, becomes painful, or there is discharge.

Regards.
