Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have had vaginal dryness and foul-smelling urine for a few days. Also, there is irritation in the vaginal area. There was lubrication during masturbation or intercourse, but now I feel dry and itchy. I have PCOD (Poly-cystic Ovarian Disease) and irregular periods. Also, I am overweight. I have a history of UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) and have used antibiotics for the same.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Dryness around the vaginal area could be due to low hormonal levels. Normally, your vaginal lining is lubricated with fluid that helps keep it moist. Vaginal dryness can result from the following: Birth control pills or any form of hormonal birth control pills, Breastfeeding, diabetes, Certain medicines like anti-estrogen medications (used for treating uterine fibroids or endometriosis), certain antidepressants, and antihistamines (medicines for cold and runny noses), Not being sexually aroused, Use of any scented soap or washes around or in your vagina. Vaginal dryness can lead to itching, burning, painful intercourse, and UTIs (urinary tract infections). Natural oils such as grape seed, olive, vegetable, sunflower, or coconut oils may be a safe home remedy for vaginal dryness. Also, I suggest you visit a gynecologist for a pelvic examination to check for vaginal or cervical infection. You must also repeat urine culture and sensitivity to check for residual infection. Finally, I suggest you use only water-based lubricants as oil-based lubricants can damage condoms and have more extended foreplay before intercourse I hope this helps.
Thank you.
