How to treat severe vaginal reactions?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I went to the hospital with minor vaginal irritation and itching. I was diagnosed with vaginitis and prescribed Betadine gynecological wash for external use. After two days, I started experiencing a burning sensation and extreme itching, along with small and large blisters on my labia and vulva. These blisters have now developed into a large sore on my vulva, accompanied by smaller painful pimples and blisters, as well as swelling of my lymph nodes in that area. I am currently taking Bassado 100 mg and Gentalyn cream as prescribed by my doctor. What can I do for this extreme pain and reaction? Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The reaction you experienced to the Betadine gynecological wash can occur in some individuals. The tablet Bassado (Doxycycline) 100 mg and Gentalyn cream (Clotrimazole, Neomycin, and Beclometasone) you are presently using would aid in the healing of the ulcer. However, you would also need an oral antihistamine to help reduce the remaining skin reaction around the sores, as well as a painkiller.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Treatment plan

1. Tablet Doliprane (Paracetamol) 1000 mg, 8 hourly for five days. 2. Tablet Alairgix (Cetirizine) 10mg 12 hourly for five days.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you so much.

Is it possible to get a downloadable form as a prescription?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The medications are over-the-counter medications. They are not prescription drugs, so you would be given them when you take your prescription to a pharmacy. Just print out the treatment section.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
