Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Ten days ago, I developed a headache at night, and it subsided the following day. The day after this, I started feeling weak and had a cough. I consulted a doctor, and he told me that I had a bacterial infection. He thoroughly examined me for any other illness and sent me home. One week later, I lost my sense of smell, and this time doctor prescribed me Prednisone and Meloxicam. After taking medications, I felt good and did not have any body ache, fever, or headache. But I have my loss of smell still. And I am really worried about it and also about the side effects that my medication could cause.

Kindly help me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand that you have weakness, cough, and loss of smell. Your physician diagnosed it as a bacterial infection. I hope you have tested negative for COVID-19 (Coronavirus Disease-2019). If not, you need to get it done. I do not understand the need for Prednisone. But short courses of this medicine do not cause any side effects like diabetes or hypertension. Much viral illness can result in rhinitis and loss of smell. They gradually get better over time.

Please do not be worried about it.

Take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
